This 9-week workshop focuses on empowering young actors to feel free, confident and prepared for important auditions. Our instructors guide students on how to search for monologue and song material that supports clear casting choices for type, age, personality, and voice. Discussions include "red flag" songs, appropriate audition cuts, and how to prepare one's mind before, during and after the audition. Students will be guided through a “dance call” with a professional choreographer, and how to handle “cold readings” from a script. In this class, students are taught how to develop and improve creative skills through a variety of theatrical lessons. Every week students are given the opportunity to apply their imaginations so they can perform with confidence, participate collaboratively, and enhance problem-solving abilities. Activities and topics covered may include guided sensory journeys, retelling stories, statue, creative play, storytelling, pantomime, collaboration, and improvisation. For students in grades K through 2, this class is a wonderful way to introduce your child to the world of theatre, reinforce skills, and prepare for stage performances in a fun, nurturing environment.
