Educational Outreach & Community Engagement

One of our goals is to actively engage with our community and enrich the lives of students and families with educational theater programs.

Local Schools – Field Elementary & Love Elementary

Through the generous support of funders like The Cynthia and George Mitchell Foundation and The Brown Foundation, HITS supports local elementary schools with in-school fine arts programming-including acting, singing, and dancing. Our TEKS aligned, theater-based lessons engage students in active learning, critical thinking, cultural awareness, and creative expression.

In the fall of 2021, HITS expanded our in-school presence at Field Elementary from weekly ancillary classes for Grades 3-5 to Grades K-5. We also expanded to another neighboring school, Love Elementary, with a similar pilot model for the 5th Grade students.

Arts-driven social and emotional learning is essential to nurture and develop the whole child. With the right resources, we hope to expand to more local schools. Let us know if your community

We will have a table in the cafeteria at Love Elementary on Friday, October 28thfrom 4:30-6:30PM. The evening will feature a gallery of student art, the debut of a public art installation, and music performances from Love students, Heights High School, and Kinder HSPVA.

Heights Kids Day of Music

On a beautiful day in March 2022, HITS had a booth at the Heights Kids Day of Music at Love Park. With over 4000 attendees, we shared our new postcard and coloring sheets highlighting our summer Encanto themed programming. Two talented lead actors from the Winter performances of Disney’s Descendants entertained the crowd with two selections form the show. We hope to see you there in March of 2023!
