ONCE ON THIS ISLAND JR

Grades 6-12 June 8-21

With its poignant story and catchy Caribbean-flavored score, Once on This Island Jr. is a highly original theatrical adaptation of the popular fairy tale, The Little Mermaid, from the legendary writing team, Ahrens and Flaherty. Through almost non-stop song and dance, this full-hearted musical tells the story of Ti Moune, a peasant girl who rescues and falls in love with Daniel, a wealthy boy from the other side of her island. Ti Moune embarks on a quest that will test the strength of her love against the powerful forces of prejudice, hatred, and even death.

Jeremy finds that adventuring can be lots of fun, but also learns that love and home are treasures you can’t find on any map! The whole family will love this delightful and swashbuckling musical adventure.

Grades 6-12 July 13-26

Grades K-5 July 20-August 2

Disney’s Moana Jr. is a 60-minute musical based on the 2016 Disney animated movie Moana, about the strong-willed daughter of the chief of a Polynesian village, who is chosen by the ocean itself to reunite a mystical relic with a goddess. When a blight strikes her island, Moana sets sail in search of Maui, a legendary demigod, in the hope of returning the heart of Te Fiti and saving her people. The musical features songs written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Opetaia Foa’i.

TWELFTH NIGHT

Shaina Taub’s Musical

Grades 6-12 July 27-August 9

“If music be the food of love, play on” – Shaina Taub’s blissful musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night is a place where people of all ages, races, and genders live in harmony, with just enough gossip and misunderstanding to keep things interesting. On the fantastic shores of Illyria, Shakespeare’s spoken language is abridged alongside Ms. Taub’s motley songs. Irresistibly tuneful, they also slyly illuminate the play’s investigations into love, cruelty and, above all, the mutable nature of self. The show’s concluding, celebratory song asks us to “see through the eyes of another, hear through the ears of somebody else.”
