Audition Techniques (Grades 5-8)
October 14, 2019 @ 6:45 pm
This 9-week workshop focuses on empowering young actors to feel free, confident and prepared for important auditions. Our instructors guide students on how to search for monologue and song material that supports clear casting choices for type, age, personality, and voice. Discussions include “red flag” songs, appropriate audition cuts, and how to prepare one’s mind before, during and after the audition. Students will be guided through a “dance call” with a professional choreographer, and how to handle “cold readings” from a script. Participants will be taken through mock auditions and will receive feedback from a panel of experts, which parents may observe at the final class. This course will require out-of-class research time (listening to music, reading plays, and memorizing material)
