Upcoming Classes - Spring 2010

No matter what your level of experience is, we have room for you. All classes include singing, dance, acting, and auditioning skills in a rehearsal-based curriculum. All students participate in a fully-staged production onstage at HITS at the conclusion of the session. Costumes and scenery are created by theatre professionals to showcase our students - The Stars!  Professional actors, dancers, musicians, directors and educators combine talents, experience and enthusiasm to bring out the best in each and every student.

This spring students entering grades 1-12  will be performing the musical CATS. CATS is based on the universally popular poetry of T.S. Eliot. The musical tells the story, in song and dance, of the annual gathering of Jellicle cats at which time one special cat is selected to ascend to the Heaviside layer. A true musical theatre phenomenon, CATS opened at London’s New London Theatre on May 11, 1981 and ran for a record-setting 21 years. CATS’s London success was nearly matched on Broadway where it ran at the Wintergarden Theatre for just over 18 years. CATS has won numerous awards, including both the Laurence Olivier Award and the Tony Award for Best Musical.

• Classes begin the week of January 11, 2010.
• NEW SCHEDULE FOR TUESDAY/THURSDAY CLASSES. We have added a second Broadway Beginnings class to respond to the increased demand.
• No classes for Spring Break – Sunday March 14-Sunday March 21.There WILL BE rehearsal on the first Saturday of Spring Break (Saturday, March 13). Please make your plans accordingly.
• Rehearsals will continue during the weeks of Miller performances.
• 2 Excused Absences are allowed per semester.If your schedule requires more than 2 absences, please speak to your instructors as soon as possible.
